Tossing out Free Speech with a Twist

I have never been a fan of Don Imus, nor had I ever thought to come to his defense, but after this ludicrous week of bashing by so many, I have to say a few things. Most if not all of my points have been made but for the record:
This society had better wake up or prepare themselves for more of the same. Many of us have sat idly by while the hen house is being raided by all sorts of vermin. namely, Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. Not that this is a surprise, but it just goes beyond reason, for CBS to fire Imus for his comments. Everyone knows they were wrong. Everyone winced (or should have) when first hearing them. The problem, is that Imus has made his reputation by being controversial. If you don't like him, don't listen to him. It doesn't mean than CBS or his viewers endorse his rhetoric or his philosophy, it's just that the same sort of thing has kept him on the radio all this time.
Saviors of the Black movement, Sharpton and Jackson step up to the first microphone and look into the camera with disdain on their brows. 'These women are humiliated'. No they're not. Their hard work and accomplishments speak for themselves. Are they going to call for firings every time someone says something offensive? It's a long road ahead for that kind of thinking. And now, what are we teaching them? If left alone, his peers would have condemned him. His employers would have disciplined him. His sponsors could have dropped him. But that's not enough. According to those two Disciples, firing and stoning are the only answers.
Let's keep them in mind when the wind blows in the other direction. And blow it will.

Costs of the Liberal Viewpoint

It just amazes me to hear the rhetoric from the Liberal viewpoint promoting closure of the prison camp "Gitmo" in Guantanamo Bay. Where in the world would we put the murdering terrorists that now populate that prison if it were shut down? And why care what the rest of the world thinks about how we treat those animals? What is Europe doing to assist us in defending our country anyway?
We need to wake up in America and quit allowing the lost politicians to dictate our future when all they are doing is appealing to the uninformed and ignorant in our society that can cast a vote their way come 2008.
It is painfully obvious when the Democrats appoint Howard "yeah" Dean for their leader that their ship has left the dock with a madman at the helm. Not only is the Demcratic party lost at sea, their floundering is affecting all of us, especially our servicemen and women that are putting their lives on the line 24/7. The ignorant or uninformed in the Middle East, are shouting for more deaths to Americans. Thanks Senator Durbin. Your insight and compassion for your fellow American is inspiring. Looking for a legacy? Look no more.

The Long Emergency

The following article has been circulated on the Internet and is not without merit. I encourage everyone to read it and form their own opinions, as I have;

ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE

The Long Emergency:

What's going to happen as we start
running out of cheap gas to guzzle?

by James Howard Kunstler

Article Link

Paints a dim picture for the future. I don't know how accurate the
article is, my guess is that it's close enough to the truth that we
should be very concerned. More nuclear plants? More oil refineries?
What is the answer to the problem? Maybe there is no good answer. Maybe there's a problem and no solution. I don't know how (other than the simplistic reasoning offered) he arrived at the conclusion that the Northeast will be better off than everybody else; "more likely to salvage the bits and pieces of our best social traditions and keep them in operation at some level."
Well maybe so...They (Northeast states)and many of the inner cities are the ones that want more government, more hand outs and have LESS value placed on moral(not popular) er..I mean social traditions.
Other than the somewhat odd finish, a good article. Maybe a major news network will pick it up.

Aliens or Seismic Activity

For those of us that have been worried about all of the UFO sightings, a new explanation as to why seemingly intelligent people see aliens, or at least their ships.
It seems that electromagnetic fluctuations in the atmospehere caused by compression of rocks below the earth's surface, can stimulate synapses in the brain and cause an hallucinogenic affect.

"Imagine you are driving down a country road, you see a strange luminance in the distance... in this case, the geomagnetic product of tectonic strain. But the geomagnetic fluctuations are also influencing your brain and extending the experience from the realm of misinterpretation to active hallucination. Additionally, the effect of the fluctuating geomagnetism on your brain might be enough to induce the hallucination in the absence of any visible flash.

In your mind, you don't see a strange flash of light, but a space ship, that is, if you are inclined to believe in such things. If the induced hallucination is elaborate enough, you may recall interactions with the occupants of the spaceship - an abduction. You don't have to be an X-Files fan to recount the basics of the alien abduction scenario. It's part of our popular folklore. In previous centuries, or in some areas today, these events may not have been interpreted as UFOs, but as monsters or some profound religious event like the sighting of a saint, depending on the collective lore of the time and place." excerpt from this site: Among Us?

Personal Issue...Terri Schiavo

The only thing I can say is 'it's personal'. With so much coverage and pundits telling us who's right or who's wrong, I just can't see where any of us have the knowledge to say who is right.
I can see the husband has the right to make the decision for her, he says it was her wish. He presents his view and we hear his view of the facts.
I can see the parents view of the issue. She's their daughter. They conceived her and brought her into this world. If the husband doesn't want to continue supporting her, why not let her parents?
Who has more love for her?
Definitely not Congress. Now how do we determine intent? Once the politicians get into the fray, we all potentially lose rights. Now it becomes a Federal issue. The laws created by this case will probably have a far reaching impact on all of us in the future.
I recommend everyone have a living will and an estate will. Record what you want done when you can no longer walk this green earth. Don't trust in what you expect others to do for you. Their hands may be tied, laws may change (invariably) and family or friends may not be able
to do what they all know you wanted.
As for me, I think it is a personal issue. I don't want the burden to fall to others to handle my affairs. They shouldn't have to.
No winners in this one.
